― 冬将軍 ―
厳しい寒さの冬を擬人化したこの言葉は、
一説によると、
1812年出版の風刺漫画がもとになっているらしい。
それは、同年にナポレオンがロシアの厳しい冬に敗れた様子を描いたものという。
数年前の12月下旬、
私は、撮影地で貴重な自然現象を目撃した。
昼前の時間だった。
眼前の山の上部の木々だけが
あっという間に霧氷で真っ白になってしまった。
この時初めて、
「冬将軍の吐息」を間近に実感した。
それは、寒気団が通過した瞬間だった。

－ Winter General －
According to one theory, the term, which personifies the harsh cold winter, is based on a satirical cartoon published in 1812.
It is said to be a depiction of Napoleon’s defeat in the harsh Russian winter that same year.
A few years ago, in late December, I witnessed a rare natural phenomenon at my shooting location.
It was just before noon.
Only the trees on top of the mountain in front of me quickly turned white with ice fog attached to them.
This was the first time I felt the “breath of the winter shogun” up close.
It was the moment when the cold air mass passed through.
