私は
道東の 渓流にいた
紅葉の撮影もさることながら
流れに横たわっている この桂の
安否が 気になっていたからだ
昨年10月
SNSにアップしたこの倒木を
最初に見つけたのは 2014年だった
それから毎年のように訪れているが
会うたびに
身に纏う少ない葉を 色づかせていた
倒れてから すでに7年
枝は朽ち落ちてかなり少なくなっていた
だが
今年も 色づいた葉を 身に纏っていた
どのように栄養を採っているのか
－ 今なお 懸命に 生きていた ―

I was at a mountain stream in the east of Hokkaido.
As well as photographing the autumn leaves
I was also wondering about the safety of this laurel tree lying in the stream.
I first found this fallen tree, which I posted on social media last October, in 2014.
I’ve visited it every year since then, and every time I see it
It has been seven years since it fell.
It has already been seven years since this tree fell.
The branches had decayed to the point of diminishing in number, but the tree was still clothed in colorful leaves this year.
I wondered how the tree was getting its nutrients, but it was still going strong.
