涙ぐんでいるご婦人（私よりもずっと若い）が
写真集を求めて カウンターに来られた
尋ねると
写真雑誌にも入賞されている 写真愛好家だった
どの作品が気に入ったかを尋ねると
“セミが脱皮している瞬間の作品です”と
答えられた
隣に展示されている
脱皮直後の青白い作品が好きだといわれた人は数多いが
この作品に涙する人は 初めてだった
この方は 見た目の美しさや雰囲気などではなく
生命の誕生そのものに
深く感動されたのだと 思った
何が人の心を震わすことができるのか
それは まさに さまざまだ
今回は 両方のセミ作品を展示しておいて
本当に良かったと 思う
A woman (much younger than me) with tears in her eyes
came to the counter asking for a photo book.
When I asked her,
she said she was a photography enthusiast who had won awards in photo magazines.
When I asked her which work she liked,
she replied,
“The work depicting the moment a cicada is molting.”
Next to it was
many people said they liked the pale blue work immediately after molting,
but this was the first time someone had shed tears over this work.
This person was deeply moved not by the beauty or atmosphere of the work,
but by the very act of birth itself,
I thought.
What can move a person’s heart?
It is truly varied.
This time, I’m glad I displayed both cicada works.
I truly think so.
