命短し 半日の命
しかも
人目を忍んで 夜だけ咲く花
その名は
― サガリバナ ―
暗闇の中を カヌーで 川を遡る
しばらくすると
バニラのような甘い香りに 包み込まれる
薄暗い岸辺で
恥ずかしがり屋の花を
目を凝らして 眺め続ける
やがて 朝焼けが始まる頃には
ポトリ ぽとり と
散り始める
川面に散った花 と 朝焼けの共演に
私の感動が 止まらない

The life of the flower is short, lasting only half a day.
And
It blooms quietly only at night.
Its name is…
― Sagaribana(Barringtonia racemosa) ―
In the darkness, I paddled my canoe up the river.
After a while, I was enveloped by a sweet scent like vanilla.
In the dim light, I continue to gaze shyly at the blooming flowers.
Eventually, as the morning glow begins, the flowers begin to fall one by one.
The combination of the flowers by the river and the morning glow never ceases to move me.
