熊野の山間に ひっそりと
およそ1340枚の 小さな田んぼ
この地を “丸山千枚田”という
さまざまな形の
ちっちゃな田んぼ
生産効率は低いけれど
生活を支える 立派な田んぼ
同時にそれは
大地の すてきな彫刻であり
美しい絵画だ

There are about 1,340 small rice paddies in the mountains of Kumano.
This area is called “Maruyama Senmaida”.
These small rice paddies of various shapes and sizes are not very efficient in production, but they support the lives of the people who live there.
