Following the Tokyo and Nagoya exhibitions,
the touring exhibition finally begins tomorrow
at this Fujifilm Photo Salon Osaka.
As with the Tokyo exhibition,
we have been able to display all 78 large-format works.

Furthermore, for the four days starting tomorrow,
we will host a gallery talk (*) with a guest each day.

The works in this photo exhibition and collection
are mostly rendered based on the actual brightness at the scene.
However, in the case of this piece,
to depict the solitary Japanese cormorant against the backdrop
of the morning sun
in a simple, impactful manner,
it was shot in a significantly low-key style.
Ms. Masako Ito, who assisted at the reception desk at the venue,
told me, “I like this piece”…

たくさんの人が　来場された
朝一番に　京都から来られた　
今若明彦さんは
雪の上でノウサギが脱糞した跡のある作品とともに
キタキツネが　夕暮れの中で獲物を狙っている
この作品が気に入ったという
会場の当番をしてくれた　川上真知子さんは
氷の上で休息している白鳥とともに
シマエナガが雪をけって飛び立つ作品を選んだ
その後に　“でもほとんど好きです”といって
私を　喜ばせてくれた
永原編集長とのギャラリートークも
たいへんに　盛り上がった

夕方は　風景写真協会の支部の方々が
歓迎会を　開いてくれた

From early morning,
many people visited the venue.
The very first visitor, Mr. Akihiko Imawaka from Kyoto,
chose a piece featuring a wild rabbit’s droppings in the snow
alongside a Yezo red fox stalking its prey at dusk.
He said he particularly liked this work.
Ms. Machiko Kawakami, who volunteered at the venue,
selected a long-tailed tita taking flight after kicking snow,
alongside a swan resting on ice.
Then she added, “But I like almost everything,”
which made me very happy.
The gallery talk with Editor-in-Chief Nagahara
was also extremely lively.
(Tomorrow’s session with Editor-in-Chief Nagahara will be held from 2 PM.)
In the evening, members of the Landscape Photography Association’s branch
held a welcome party for us.

After six years, I decorated
at the nostalgic Fujifilm Photo Salon Nagoya.
This marks the eighth time
a photo exhibition has been held
at this venue.

My first photo exhibition themed on living creatures,
“-Nippon Islands – The Spirits of Living Creatures”
has begun.
On the first day, there were well over 1,000 visitors.
Some people even came from as far away as Hong Kong
just to see the exhibition.
The afternoon gallery talk was also packed with people.
In the evening, a commemorative party was held,
and despite it being Obon,
many people came to celebrate.
It was truly heartwarming.
I plan to be present at the gallery every day
from tomorrow onward.
Gallery talks will also be held daily.

Last week, Mr. Nagahara (chief editor of Landscape Photography) and I attended the printing of my next photo book “-Nippon Islands – The Spirits of Living Creatures”
for two days at Fujiwara Printing in Matsumoto City,

The combination of Mr. Hideaki Hanaoka, Printing Director, Mr. Kazuki Uchiyama, Printing Press Manager, and us was excellent, and I have a strong feeling that it will be a wonderful photo book.
The book will be on sale in conjunction with the photo exhibition that opens on August 15 (details will be introduced next week).

写真家の小松健一さん、林義勝さん、山岸伸さん、そして私の四人の写真家による『四天展』は、明日の１４日で終了です。まだご覧になられていない方で都合がつく方は、ぜひいらしてください。今回掲載した作品は私の展示作品の中の一つで、“晴れ舞台”です。

The “Four Heavenly Creatures” exhibition by four photographers, Kenichi Komatsu, Yoshikatsu Hayashi, Shin Yamagishi, and myself, will end tomorrow, on the 14th.
